(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Mount Everest conqueror Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtaruddin is planning to go on a three-month expedition for a documentary series on the journeys of the Muslim prophets to high ground.
The 29-year-old explorer will begin his “Mountains of the Prophets Exploration” in October and scale 11 mountains in eight countries.
Muhamad Muqharabbin, affectionately known as Qobin, said the expedition would be compiled into a 30-episode documentary.
“It will be based on the Quran, the hadith and the written accounts of the journeys to the mountains undertaken by the prophets.
“It will attempt to discover the guidance, secrets and teachings expressed or implied by the prophets' journeys,” he said after the launching of the exploration by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Prime Minister's Office here.
Qobin said he would be accompanied by two young climbers who were being identified.
The expedition, mooted by the Seven Summits Exploration Club, is expected to cost up to RM1.2mil.
Qobin scaled Mount Everest in 2004, Mountain Kosciousko in Australia in 2005 and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa last year.
He embarked on the “Seven Peaks, Seven Continents, Seven Values Expedition” in June last year to scale the seven tallest mountains in seven continents.
In his speech, Najib said such an exploration would help depict Allah's greatness and serve as a source of inspiration to others.
“If we view this as not merely a physical test but a journey of faith, then that is also a noble climb,” he said.
Najib said trekking and climbing activities were considered sunnah or practices of the prophets and should be encouraged.
