Egypt says Israel’s apology is not enough

Israeli president apologises for the border shootings, but Cairo thinks more is needed

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Cairo says that Israel’s apology for the death of Egyptian soldiers at the border is not enough to contain public anger in Egypt, stressing that the investigations into the incident must have a deadline. Following a meeting between the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and the government’s crisis-handling committee, Major General Ahmed Youssef Abdel Nabi stated that Israel has to take actions, more powerful than a mere apology. “Israel has to unveil the actions that it will take to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future,” he said on state TV. “Egypt is solely responsible for Sinai’s security and it refuses any interference in this matter.” Five Egyptian soldiers were killed and two more injured by Israeli troops last Thursday./129
