Former Libyan premier joins revolutionaries

The former Libyan premier, Abdessalam Jalloud, has joined the revolutionaries after fleeing Tripoli.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - This former Libyan premier, who was dismissed by the Libyan dictator, Muammar Gaddafi, in mid-1990s, fled Tripoli on Friday and joined the revolutionaries.

Previously, he made three failed attempts to flee Tripoli. He is currently in regions that are controlled by the Libyan revolutionaries.

Meanwhile, the representative of Libyan National Transitional Council in Egypt and Arab League, Abdul-Man’am Taher al-Houni, has confirmed the defection of former Libyan premier, while adding that the former Libyan premier will issue a statement on Saturday, reporting his defection.

The defection of the former Libyan prime minister has dealt a heavy blow to Gaddafi’s regime.

Throughout armed and deadly clashes between the Libyan revolutionaries and Gaddafi’s mercenaries, more than 30,000 people have been killed.
