(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Mansur Saif al-Nasr, the Libyan Transitional National Council's envoy to Paris, on Tuesday said "We are entering a decisive phase. We hope to celebrate the final victory at the same time as the end of (the Muslims' holy month of) Ramadan" at the end of August.
The remarks came as the anti-regime forces have been advancing toward the Libyan capital Tripoli in several prongs over the past few days -- among them the western town of al-Heisha, some 250 kilometers west of capital Tripoli. Al-Heisha links the capital and oil-rich Sirte -- which is the stronghold of forces loyal to the country's embattled ruler Muammar Gaddafi.
Meanwhile, the fighters said they have seized most of the city of Zawiyah, which is located some 50 km west of the capital.
Also, the head of Libya's Transitional National Council (TNC) has vowed to hand over power to an elected body within eight months of the downfall of the country's ruler Muammar Gaddafi.
AFP quoted Mustafa Abdel Jalil as saying on Tuesday: "The TNC will continue for no more than eight months," after the collapse of Gaddafi's regime.
