(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said on Sunday that security prevails in the tiny island country, Bahraini media reported.
This is despite Manama's deadly response to popular protests since mid-February, when thousands of demonstrators began their anti-regime uprising across Bahrain, demanding an end to Al Khalifa dynasty, which has ruled the country for over 40 years.
Meanwhile, the Bahraini Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has vowed to improve the standard of living for all Bahraini people except those he described as 'traitors,' referring to the majority opposition that have been calling for the ouster of the long-term, tyrannical ruler of the state, King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The remarks by Bahraini authorities come at a time when there is no good prospect for an end to the Saudi-backed crackdown against the ongoing nationwide protests.
Latest images show demonstrators pouring onto the streets in several villages across the Persian Gulf sheikdom despite heavy presence of regime forces in the areas.
The protesters demand the withdrawal of Saudi armed forces from Bahrain and the release of political prisoners that have been detained during the months-long revolution by Bahraini people against the al Khalifa dictatorship.
In mid-March, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates deployed their military forces in the country to assist the Manama regime in its violent clampdown on peaceful protests.
