Iranian glorious Quranic art show opens in Malaysia

The Iranian glorious Quranic art show centering on the Holy month of Ramadan opened Sunday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Rare copies of calligraphy inscription of the Quran, as well as translations of the Quran in 50 different languages are on display at the 10-day long exhibition.

A beautiful Quranic carpet book comprised of 76 two-sided leaves of 70x45 centimeters is among the exhibit’s highlights.

The students of the Carpet Faculty of Tabriz Islamic Arts University completed the entire Holy Quran within six years in the form of a book whose pages are small carpets.

The verses of the Holy Quran were woven from silk and the other sections are from wool.

Workshops on illumination and calligraphy of the Quran conducted by leading Iranian calligraphists are also arranged during the exhibition.

Datuk Peter Brokenshire, General Manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, regarded the exhibit as the best opportunity for visitors to get acquainted with Persian rich art and culture.

Iran’s cultural attaché in Malaysia Ali-Akbar Ziyaii also said that some of the items at the show are being displayed outside the Iranian homeland for the first time.

“Since Malaysian people like the Quran and since the Holy Quran enjoys a high position in this country, such exhibits help boost cultural exchanges between the two countries,” he added.
