(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has expressed fear over the outbreak of Cholera, epidemics and infectious diseases in Somalia due to water pollution, lack of clean water and health services and the impact of such a situation on women and children. Meanwhile the Organization's Executive Committee will hold an emergency meeting at the foreign ministers' level in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Wednesday to discuss the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Somalia and their impact on African countries. The meeting comes in response to an invitation by Turkey to provide assistance to the Somali people. The meeting will discuss the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Somalia and how to mobilize more support to address the complications of starvation. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is an international organization consisting of 57 member states. The organization attempts to be the collective voice of the Muslim world (Ummah) and attempts to safeguard the interests and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims. The OIC has a permanent delegation to the United Nations, and describes itself as the second largest international organization after the United Nations. It changed its name from the Organization of the Islamic Conference on 28 June 2011. /129
