Somalia: Organization of the Islamic Call distributes aid to children and displaced people

Somalia office of the Organisation of the Islamic Call distributed assistance for the displaced people which included high-nutrition biscuits to 913 displaced children. The Organisation also distributed food aid amounting to 50 kg of corn, 6 liters of cooking oil and 22 kg of beans to 913 displaced families in Shabs and Karan neighborhoods.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Somalia office of the Organisation of the Islamic Call distributed assistance for the displaced people which included high-nutrition biscuits to 913 displaced children. The Organisation also distributed food aid amounting to 50 kg of corn, 6 liters of cooking oil and 22 kg of beans to 913 displaced families in Shabs and Karan neighborhoods.

This humanitarian assistance has come from the World Food Programme (WFP) and was distributed by the Humanitarian Alliance of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is operating in Somalia.

Al-Manhal Charitable Society provides assistance for the displaced people in Mogadishu

The Al-Manhal Charitable Society has distributed 12 tons of dates for 1000 displaced families in the neighborhood of Haden (near Dakfir hospital). Each family has received 12 kg., being part of the efforts of the Society to provide aid for the people affected by the drought in Somalia.

The Direct Aid Society continues its care services for pregnant women

Somalia office of the Direct Aid Society (Muslim Africa Committee) continues to provide its care services for displaced pregnant and breast-feeding women in camps in the capital city Mogadishu and in four provinces in southern Somalia. The number of beneficiaries is estimated at 6,000 women.

Spread of measles among the displaced people in Somalia

According to official medical sources from inside camps of the displaced people in Mogadishu and in other Somali provinces, measles epidemic has began to spread among the displaced people.

Accordingly, the number of deaths in these camps has increased reaching to 50%. The estimated daily number of deaths among the displaced people has reached 800, most of them are children and elderly people.
