(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Committee for Istihlal (sighting the new moon to determine the first day of Ramadan), issued a statement which said based on the studies carried out by the committee the new moon can only be sighted Sunday night (July 31).
“Therefore, August first will be the first day of Ramadan in Tunisia.” The statement added that it would be the same in some other Islamic countries like Syria, Egypt and Oman.
“However, in some other countries such as Malaysia, Algeria, Indonesia, Morocco and Persian Gulf states, the new moon may be sighted on Saturday night, making Sunday, July 31, the beginning of Ramadan in these countries.”
