(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Prominent Salafist cleric Yasser Borhami says he supports the last statement issued by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), which was met with anger by the majority of the revolutionary and pro-democracy forces.
“It [the communiqué] has put our hands on the danger that threatens the country, especially the possible chaos that is planned by forces from abroad because they do not want Egypt to be safe and stable,” he said.
Hours ago, SCAF spokesperson General Mohsen El-Fangari stressed emphatically that the council does not intend to abdicate its role in administering the country’s affairs in this transitional period.
Borhami also called on all political forces to act in the country’s best interests and avoid whatever might spread chaos and lead to the destruction of the national economy.
He said that sit-ins and civil disobedience are completely unacceptable because they result in “varied damages as well as a security vacuum.”
“We need to give [interim Prime Minister] Essam Sharaf the chance to do what he promised yesterday… The Salafists will not make hasty judgments, we first need to see the assignments of the new government,” Borhami stated.
