Bahrain regime reflects 'fascist state'

The Bahraini regime reflects a fascist state because it arrests and tortures those who speak against its monarchal, imperialist-backed regiment state, says an analyst.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “The Bahraini monarchy is essentially acting in a fascistic fashion,” Lawrence Davidson, author and historian, says in an interview that “they've got the power and if you object to anything they do, they arrest...and torture you.”

The US-backed and Saudi-enforced Manama rulers have even been engaged in arresting rights activists, opposition figures, journalists, former lawmakers, senior clerics, doctors and nurses.

“I think [Manama] is doing this under pressure from the Obama administration,” said Davidson, stressing that the United States deliberately ignores the widespread rights violations in Bahrain, home to a huge military installation of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Bahrainis have been holding peaceful demonstrations across the Persian Gulf kingdom since mid-February, calling for an end to the absolute monarchy of the Al Khalifa family.

In mid-March, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates deployed their military forces in crisis-hit Bahrain to assist the Manama regime in its brutal crackdown on popular protests.

Dozens of people have been killed so far and many more wounded in the attacks on demonstrators.
