(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Monday meeting was held at the headquarters of El-Ghad Party, where representative of 26 parties conferred over creating a national unity government and parliamentary elections.
“Our meeting today is very important, because it brings together representatives from majority of political parties to talk about the parliamentary elections,” Chairman of El-Ghad Party Ayman Nour said.
The coalition said that it is working tirelessly in order to help ease the country into a democracy that will implement values the revolution, namely freedom, justice, and equal citizenship.
“We are working hard to introduce a law that is based on justice and democracy and doesn't give absolute power to individuals,” Muslim Brotherhood member Mohamed el-Beltagy said.
The coalition also announced the formation of a committee that will work on creating a new unified law for the parliamentary elections.
“We meet today to discuss the election law. We guarantee a fair representation of all parties,” President of Al-Wafd Party El-Sayaid el-Badawi said.
All 26 parties that attended the party have agreed to the establishment of a civil state where the rule of law will prevail.
Observers say Egypt is in desperate need of a parliament that represents the entire nation with all its political tendencies and influences.
Massive protests across Egypt led to the ouster of the US-backed Egyptian ruler Hosni Mubarak in February, transferring the power to a military council after 30 years of despotic rule.
