Poll: International Criminal Court Will Toss Complaint on Bahrain, UK

Anti-government protests in Bahrain the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the UN will refuse to investigate a complaint against Bahrain and the UK for their collusion in the brutal crackdown on Bahraini protesters, according to a survey.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Beirut-based International Coalition against Impunity filed a complaint with the ICC against the Bahraini and UK governments on June 17 on charges of committing "crimes against humanity, genocide, aggression and war crimes."

Press TV conducted a survey, in which it found that 67.25 percent of respondents believe that the UN and the ICC will refuse to investigate the case and hold trials.

Some 9.17 percent of those surveyed said that the ICC will conduct an investigation and will find the Bahraini and British officials in question guilty. Meanwhile, 23.59 percent believe that the ICC and the UN will conduct an investigation but will exonerate both Bahraini and British officials.

Since the beginning of anti-government protests in Bahrain in mid-February, scores of people have been killed and many more arrested for demanding the ouster of the al-Khalifa family.

On March 14, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates deployed troops to the kingdom to help the Bahraini forces suppress the nationwide protests.

The rights group is expected to present graphical images as well as video footage as evidence in court, which activists believe will show the "crimes of Bahraini government."
