Iran to Hold Quran Exhibitions in Sudan

In a meeting on June 19 with Sudanese Minister of Culture, Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to hold Quran exhibitions and launch a branch of the Center for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in Sudan.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In a meeting on June 19 with Sudanese Minister of Culture, Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to hold Quran exhibitions and launch a branch of the Center for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in Sudan.

 Stressing the need for boosting cultural cooperation between the two countries, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini referred to the resistance of Iranian and Sudanese leaders and nations against the world's tyrants and the common view points of the two countries in the international arenas and expressed hope for more political and cultural exchanges.

 He noted that like previous years, Iran cultural weeks will be held in Sudan and measures have been taken to provide more opportunities for expanding cultural relations between the two countries.

 As the Iranian minister stated, the country is ready to participate at book and press exhibitions and cultural festivals in Sudan.

 Regarding the cultural common grounds between the two Islamic countries, Hosseini called for boosting cooperation between national libraries of Iran and Sudan and setting up a specialized section of Iran studies at Sudan library.

 During the meeting, Sudanese Minister of Culture noted that five great cultural projects, mainly the Festival of Sudan National Culture, are due to be held in 2011 and invited the Islamic Republic of Iran to cooperate with the country in this respect.

 The Sudan official also referred to a regional festival of Arabic poetry which will be held in Khartoum and expressed hope that Iranian poets would also take part at the program.

 He further thanked Iran for attending the Music Festival in Khartoum, and regarding the fifth international book fair in the city added that Sudan is willing to host Iran at the exhibition like previous years.

 He regarded the event as an appropriate opportunity for the Sudanese people to become more familiar with Islamic culture and art.

 He also asked for signing more agreements in cultural fields and Iran’s cooperation in construction project of National Theater Hall in the country's capital.
