Sunni dominated Egyptians mark Imam Ali (AS) birthday anniversity

Egyptian people marked the anniversary of the first Shia leader Imam Ali (AS) for the first time in Cairo.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Egyptian people marked the anniversary of the first Shia leader Imam Ali (AS) for the first time in Cairo.

After collapsing the regime of Hosni Mubarak, it was the first time that People in Cairo celebrated the anniversary of Imam Ali’s (PBUH) birthday.

Jamal-al-din Ghotb, Al Azhar Professor underlined the role of Imam Ali (PBUH) and the necessity of celebrating his birthday.

“Instead of holding celebration for artists and authorities, we should hold some religious ceremonies, “ex-head of the Al Azhar Fatwa council said.

Sheikh Jamal-al-din Ghotb criticized defiance of the media towards religious paradigms and said,” It is staggering that media gives it’s all attention to football players and political figures.”
 
Al Azhar professor delineated the features of Imam Ali (PBUH) and the import role he played in Islamic government.

Imam Ali (PBUH) was the cousin of the Islam’s Prophet. He was born in the Sacred House (Ka'bah).
