(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Zahra al-Rabiee, a Muslim living in Denmark, says while Western countries are closely following political events in the Middles East countries such as Syria, they have turned a blind eye to massacres taking place in Bahrain and have refused to cover nationwide protest rallies against the atrocious Bahraini king.
"So far, there was no criticism against Bahrain's dictator and unfortunately he is being portrayed as a kind king, who cares about his people's welfare," she wrote in an article entitled "Why the crackdown in Bahrain suffers silence".
"Instead, the peaceful protesters are labeled rebels supported by Iran", she continued, adding that this kind of reports are pure lies and far from reality.
Zahra al-Rabiee also criticized Danish Foreign Minister Lene Espersen for failing to condemn events unfolding in Bahrain.
"Our foreign minister has condemned the violence in Libya and Syria but when it comes to Bahrain, she only expresses concern," she wrote in her article.
She also raised a question about the reason for which the Western countries do not act against the Manama government and criticized the West for failing to condemn the violence against anti-regime protesters in the country.
"The Bahraini dictator has caused horror and terror among the nation, Bahraini authorities have destroyed several religious sites in a move to prevent them from being symbols of freedom and democracy, killing many people. Bahraini authorities also suspend the scholarships of those students who staged a protest rally in front of Bahraini embassy in London to protest against the government brutal crackdown on anti-regime demonstrators, but still the West fails to condemn," she added.
"Bahraini protesters are being arrested and detainees are enduring some of the worst conditions. Women protesters are raped while in police custody. Doctors and journalists have been arrested and Saudi and Emirati forces are helping Manama to kill innocent people, why are you still silent?" al-Rabiee asked the Western countries.
At the end she concluded that since Bahrain is a West ally and thousands of British citizens live there, they do not protest against crimes committed by the ruling Al Khalifa.
US President Barack Obama also prefers not to criticize the Bahraini king because Bahrain is home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet, she said.
