Iran summons Bahraini charge d'affaires over court rulings on detained protesters

The Iranian Foreign Ministry's Social Affairs Department summoned the Bahraini charge d'affaires to protest the "unjust ruling" issued by the country's military court on an Iranian national, the official IRNA news agency reported Tuesday.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The head of Foreign Ministry's Department of Social Affairs rejected the way the Iranian national had been arrested and tried, the report said.

The Iranian official called on the Bahraini diplomat to immediately report the issue to his government, according to the report.

The report, however, did not specify the name of Iranian national convicted in the Bahraini court.

Two people convicted of killing two police officers earlier this year during the civil unrest in Bahrain had their death sentences upheld on Sunday by a Bahraini court.

The death sentences were issued for two Shiite advocators of Ali Abdullah Hassan Alsingace and Abdul Aziz Abdul Redha Ibrahim Hussein.

The Shiite majority was calling for more political and economic reforms in the Sunni ruling government.
