What causes terrorism?

Grand cleric defined terrorism as an inhuman measure stressing the need to make counter moves against terrorism to have a peaceful world.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Grand cleric defined terrorism as an inhuman measure stressing the need to counter the phenomena is to have a peaceful world.

Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, head of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought rebuked terrorism as an inhuman move and said ignorance and decline of spirituality are two reasons for terrorism.

Iranian senior cleric stressed the necessity of confronting inhuman moves in the world and said, "It is a necessity to fight all inhuman moves that are aimed at murdering man or to increase tension between people."

"An analysis on the reasons for terrorism shows many reasons behind the move one of them being ignorance or even oppression which might trigger one to commit terrorist crimes," said the cleric and added that prejudiced ideas or radicalism can lead to terrorist measures as well.

As another reason for terrorism, he brought decline of spirituality explaining that when spirituality decreases in one's manner, one is deviated from the right path and that turns him into a brutal being capable of committing any crime naming mass murder.

On the ways to confront terrorism he said, "Concentrating on the root causes of the issue rather than the effect which is terrorism, great attention has to be paid to spirituality and members of the society have to be led towards their human nature" and stressed that, "The more one moves in accord with his human nature, the less he moves towards terrorism hence the best way to confront terrorism is to lead members of the society towards peace and increasing spirituality."

Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri also recommended that the world governments have to follow Sharia to achieve peace.

Quoting a verse from holy Qur'an he said, "Should all governments pay attention to the holy Qur'an and avoid animosity, hope for stabilization of peace in the world increases."
