Iran's letter to UN Security Council about Bahraini people

Iran's Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, has called for UN Security Council resolute and immediate measures to put an end to massacre of innocent and defenseless Bahraini people.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - in a letter to UN chief, and chairman of UN Security Council, Salehi noted that unfortunately it is sensed that the UN Security Council has not paid attention to suppression of Bahraini people and has not adopted the essential measures, while this world body has had a different conduct in regard to similar cases throughout other regional countries' developments.

Referring to the suppression of people of Bahrain through unimaginable approaches such as attacking homes, abducting the civilians, destructing mosques, firing employees and workers, and finally sabotaging the everyday lives of Bahrainis, Salehi emphasized that the popular uprising of the people of Bahrain, alike other popular movements in countries such as Tunisia and Egypt, is the uprising of majority of people for fulfillment of their legitimate demands.

Salehi noted that the issue of Bahrain has no military solution, while resorting to military approach, and using foreign forces to crackdown peoples' protests only further complicates the problem, and hurts people's sentiments, and will lead to an uncontrollable situation in this country.

Furthermore, Salehi referred to age-old historical and cultural relations between the two Iranian and Bahraini nations, and said Islamic Republic of Iran cannot remain indifferent to these developments, because continuation of the current trend and failure to solve crisis in Bahrain in a fair and logical manner could lead to an uncontrollable situation, destabilizing the Persian Gulf region.
