Salafis and Revolution in Bahrain

Various groups have given various answers regarding the Shia uprising in Bahrain and the Bahraini government.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Fanatical groups, such as the Salafis, are using all of the power at their disposal to intervene in Bahrain.  These groups have written articles, delivered lectures, and conducted interviews in order to condemn the uprising in Bahrain. They have even issued verdicts making the murder of Bahraini protestors religiously obligatory.

They have used well-known sites such as Youtube and Facebook to further their propaganda. One of these people is Nawaf Salim who is a Kuwaiti lecturer and the head of the endowment (waqf) ministry in his country.  He delivered a lecture which was published on his official website in which he issued a verdict stating that it is obligatory to kill Bahraini protestors.

Salim addressed the rulers of the Persian Gulf countries and stated: “It is obligatory to kill Bahraini citizens who are fanatical; who cause corruption on the earth; who are people who consider bad to be good; who desire sin to be rampant. It is permissible to kill them.”

He continued to address the rulers of the Persian Gulf countries and said: “We must ally ourselves together and use all of our power to stand up to the corrupt who have evil plans. All of the countries should be united in this effort.”

Salim also asked the Kuwaiti government to send troops to help the Bahraini government as soon as possible. it is worthy of noting that Salim stated that Kuwait stopped sending troops to Bahrain, but he was trying, through this lecture, to force the government to send more troops. He wanted to ignite a sectarian war in the region.
