A popular rally of Bahraini opposition supporters participated in the sit-in, raising the flags of Bahrain. Member of "Loyalty to the Resistance" bloc MP Hussein al-Musawi also attended.
Imam of Sayyeda Zahra’ Mosque – Sheikh Yusuf Damoush – addressed a speech in the ceremony, in which he stressed on the need of Muslim regimes to interact with their people, rather than oppressing them.
In reply to the inciting positions of the Caretaker PM Saad-Eddin Harriri, Damoush stressed that the Shiites always take custody of the country in which they live and fight for its dignity. "We not only do not want to make Lebanon a protectorate of Iran, but we also refuse to be accused of such issue. We have proven that we want to build a Lebanese protectorate, when this country was protected by the arms of its sons and the blood of its martyrs," Damoush said.
He also went on to speak about the double standards in dealing with Arab revolts, noting that Bahraini revolution was dealt with on sectarian basis, in contrary to the Egyptian, Tunisian, Libyan and Yemeni popular revolts.
Sheikh Yusuf Damoush expressed that the US clearly tries to divide Muslims between Arabs and Persians to weaken them, while pointing at the GCC to work on putting an end to the Bahraini bloodbath, as it tried to solve the crisis of Yemen, “rather than acting on a two-standard basis.”
Damoush called on Muslim peoples worldwide to spare no effort in order to exert heavy pressures on the Bahraini regime to liberate its people.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Muslim Scholars Coalition in Lebanon, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Zein, was also among the speakers. He pointed out that the Palestinian cause had been suffering since more than sixty years ago, while Arabs are standing still.
He went on to say to the Arab peoples of Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and Yemen saying: "Not enough to raise slogans of freedom, democracy and justice, but we seriously need an Islamic-unitary project."
A representative of Hezbollah women's organizations - participating in the sit-in - said to Al-Manar Website that the move came to let the people of Bahrain know that "we back and support him, through prayers and sit-ins.”
The representative stated that organizers support all popular revolts, but the Bahraini people is now in a badly need to any solidarity movement after had been abandoned by the world mass media, including the Lebanese.
“If we didn’t stand in solidarity with the Bahraini people, who will do so,” she told Al-Manar Website.
The representative also said that all peoples are suffering injustice, but the Bahraini injustice lies in that the whole world had abandoned the people there and falsified its objectives. But Allah is always with the oppressed,” she added.
A girl participating in the event told Al-Manar website that she came in respect to the Bahraini martyrs, to stand with Bahraini people because he is suffering torture.”
This is the second solidarity movement with the Bahraini people. The first took place in March 16 in Beirut.
