Saudis, not Iran interfere in Bahrain: IRI Envoy

IRI Ambassador to India Seyyed Mahdi Nabizadeh here Friday ruled out as baseless accusation on Iran’s interference in Bahrain, brought up by Saudi Embassy in New Delhi!

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - IRI Ambassador to India Seyyed Mahdi Nabizadeh here Friday ruled out as baseless accusation on Iran’s interference in Bahrain, brought up by Saudi Embassy in New Delhi!

According to the IRNA correspondent in New Delhi, the Iranian diplomat added in his press conference with the Indian media representatives Friday evening, “This is not the first time that such baseless accusations are brought up against Iran.”

He said, “It has now been a couple of days that the spokesman of the Saudi Government, to the Saudi Embassy in India are being quoted as accusing Iran of interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs, which I hereby categorically rule out as totally baseless.”

The Iranian ambassador said, “We have never interfered in the internal affairs of any country and will never do so in the future and we expect the neighboring and Islamic countries too stop echoing the Zionist and western accusations, and not to heed the rumors spread by them against us.”

Nabizadeh said, “Iran has clearly states its stands regarding Bahrain, just as stating stands on Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya, and we believe any country should use only its own disciplinary forces to settle down its internal problems.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ambassador to India added, “We do not approve of the presence of foreign military forces in other countries and believe it is hazardous for both the regional nations, and the regional governments.”

Nabizadeh added, “We therefore declared that the presence of foreign forces is neither to the benefit of Saudi Arabia, nor to the benefit of Bahrain, and on this basis they accuse Iran of interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs!”

He said, “Our stand is based on defending the rights of the people and the rights of the nations, and our nation supports the entire oppressed nations in the world.”

The Iranian ambassador added, “We are opposed to the dictators and do not support any dictator’s invasion, regardless of the Shi’a-Sunni discussions.”

He said, “We have been a staunch supporter of the Palestinian nation throughout the 32 year history of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they are Sunni Muslims, but we have acted in accordance with our responsibilities.”

Nabizadeh said, “During the past few months, too, after the wave of the Islamic awareness in the region, we defended the both Egyptian nation and the Libyan nation, but as soon as we defended the Bahraini people we were accused of favoritism for Shi’a population versus the Sunni rulers there, which it totally out of question.”

He reiterated, “You media folks know well that there is no difference between the Shi’a and the Sunni Muslims from this point of the view, and even in case the Bahraini people, the Shi’a and Sunni Muslims are unitedly campaigning to gain their rights.”

The ambassador said, “But the governments must know they should be the supporters of their own people, work for their sake, and respect the values that and the culture that are important for their nation, keeping in mind the interests of the minorities, and support the other peoples and nations, as well.”

He said, “The people trust them and they must always remain just and observe justice, and I expect the media to reflect the people’s moves and righteous demands.”

Iran’s ambassador to India added, “The media play important roles in reflecting the realities and they should tell the people the difference between the truth and falsehood so that the nations would find the right path for themselves.”

A reporter asked about the possibility of a US military invasion against Iran; the ambassador replied, “We believe the United States and Israel have been entangled in a plot in the region and the United States cannot invade Iran, since this has already tested Iran’s might in the course of the eight year imposed war, during which we fought not only against the Iraq invaders, but also against the United States and all its allies, and emerged victoriously relying on the people’s full support.”

In response to a question on the accusation of espionage activities in Kuwait, he said, “The Iranian President and Government have already rejected the matter, and besides, we have no spies at all, and therefore this, too, is another one of those baseless lies based on which they wish to deviate the people’s minds from the realities.”

On Iran’s role in the Middle East he said, “We believe the entire countries must observe the rules of democracy and to give their peoples the right to be present at the scene. We have throughout the past 30 years tried to observe the rules of democracy in our country.”

To a question on India’s role in ongoing developments in the region, the Iranian diplomat replied, “We believe India can play an important role. The country that was itself for many years entangled with the British colonialism and has during 60 years of independence emerge as a high level country in the world, can play an important role in today’s developments, on condition that it would refrain from unilateralism.”

The IRNA reporter, too, asked about forging news and distorting history by the western media in the course of the ongoing Middle East and North Africa developments. Nabizadeh replied, “We hope the free media and press would do their job properly. The reporters and media the think freely can make up for that deficiency and we are sure the media people know the history well, so we expect them to assist the people bright mindedly and to show the realities to the world nation in contrast with the dependent media and those affiliated to the superpowers.
