Bahraini Journalist: Foreigners must leave Bahrain

A Bahraini journalist here on Saturday called for speedy withdrawal of foreign occupation forces from Bahrain, saying their presence there is illegitimate and that’s up to Bahrainis themselves to solve their country’s internal crisis.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A Bahraini journalist here on Saturday called for speedy withdrawal of foreign occupation forces from Bahrain, saying their presence there is illegitimate and that’s up to Bahrainis themselves to solve their country’s internal crisis.

The journalist and analyst of Bahraini al-Awsat newspaper Heidar Mohammad said that at present Bahrain is under emergency conditions and the army units are deployed in strategic and infrastructural facilities of the country.

Mohammad said Bahrain crisis is not a security but a political one in nature. “So, the best solution to it is that Bahrainis themselvves assume responsibility for domestic affairs. The Government should address the youth's demands, respect political liberties and social justice and amend the constitution.”

“The Bahraini people want foreign forces to leave their country because there is no need for such a presence and their intervention in Bahrain's internal affairs is fully unjustified,” he commented.

The Bahrain government claims that a security deal, signed by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council members justifies such a meddling, while the deal solely dealt with joint defense of the Persian Gulf, he said.

Western states have thus far merely been eyewitnesses to the suppression of the Bahraini people and only certain countries such as Russia and France condemned it and warned that such measures will have adverse impact on future relations between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
