Senior African Shia Member of Islamic Movement Passes Away in Zaria

The death has occurred of Alhaji Hamid Danlami, Managing Director of Al-Mizan newspaper, in the morning hours of Thursday, 17th of March 2011. He died in his residence in Zaria. Alhaji Hamid is one of the early members of the Islamic Movement who contributed his wealth and time immensely to the activities of the African Shia Islamic Movement in Nigeria.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The death has occurred  of Alhaji Hamid Danlami, Managing Director of Al-Mizan newspaper, in the morning hours of Thursday, 17th of March 2011. He died in his residence in Zaria. Alhaji Hamid is one of the early members of the Islamic Movement who contributed his wealth and time immensely to the activities of the African Shia Islamic Movement in Nigeria.

Due to his contribution to the Islamic Movement, Alhaji Hamid served prison terms at different times.

He had been the Managing Director of IM Publication Ltd, which publishes Movement's Almizan Newspaper in Hausa language that has been in circulation for over 20 years.

In 2009, during Ashura mourning procession in Zaria, his residence was burnt  down, including all his belongings, by thugs under the protection of men of Nigerian Police as ordered by the then state Police Commissioner for allegedly  serving as Publishing Center of the Almizan Newspaper.

His funeral prayer is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday the 18th March, 2011, to be led by Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky by 10 a.m. in Zaria.
