Egypt Uncovers First Israeli Espionage Ring since January 25 Revolution

Egyptian Media Sources reported that the Egyptian National Intelligence uncovered a Zionist espionage ring, which is the first to be revealed since the beginning of the Egyptian revolution that led to the toppling of the Mubarak regime.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Egyptian Media Sources reported that the Egyptian National Intelligence uncovered a Zionist espionage ring, which is the first to be revealed since the beginning of the Egyptian revolution that led to the toppling of the Mubarak regime.

According to sources, the general prosecution conducts investigations with the "Israeli" spy network since a few days.

According to informed security sources, the alleged ring consisted of one Egyptian and several "Israeli" citizens, at least two of whom have been arrested. Also, sources said that investigations are taking place but with great secrecy.

The informed source also reported that the spy ring is specialized on collecting information related to the Egyptian gas pipelines as well as members of the Egyptian military, noting that "despite the strict and secret investigations, some news assure that the head of this network is a foreigner. On another note, the Zionist entity expressed its anxiety over the uncovering of the spy ring, as a televised enemy report demonstrated that the revelation of the network will negatively affect the Egyptian-"Israeli" relations and will increase tension between the two.

This is the first public espionage confrontation between Egypt and "Israel" since the Egyptian revolution, though it is by no means unique in recent months. In December of last year, two "Israelis", Joseph Daymour and Idid Moushay, were charged with espionage by the Egyptian government, but reportedly managed to escape. Another member of that spy ring, Egyptian Tareq Abdel Razeq Hussein Hassan, was captured and tried. He was also said to be posing as an entrepreneur, involved in import-export business.
