A national Quran memorization competition is to be held in the African country of Chad this week, ISESCO website reports.
Special for children, the competition is organized by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in the city of Masakuri on March 19 to 22.
It is in line with ISESCO’s plans for providing services to children who do not have access to Quranic programs.
Encouraging children to learn the Quran by heart and elevating the status of Quranic schools in Chad, especially in northern parts of the country are said to be among the objectives of the competition.
Ali Muhammad Saleh ISESCO’s representative in Chad is charged with supervising the competition and selecting members of the jury panel.
Winners of the contest will be awarded in a ceremony to be attended by Mr. Saleh.
