(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - As the Annual Unity Week organized by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria enters its third day on Thursday (15-03-1432/18-02-2011), the occasion gathers momentum. This was manifested by the increase in number of attendants both from within and outside the Movement. At the afternoon session, Sheikh Abubakar Ilorin was to speak on Brotherhood in Islam. However he was away to the city of Kaolack for some similar engagements. So Sheikh Saleh Ahmad Lazare from Niamey in Niger Republic was drafted to speak on the topic.
Sheikh Lazare quoted verses from the Holy Qur’an and some authenticAhadiths of the Holy Prophet to show the need and importance ofbrotherhood in Islam. He noted, with dismay, that some Muslims who camouflage under the slogan of puritan Islam kindle the light of disunity and hatred among us. He hoped that the Ummah would embrace the concept and practical action of Islamic brotherhood as exemplified by the Prophet during his life time in Makka and Madinah.
During the night session, Sheikh Shareef Adam el- Ya’qub from Minna made a brief but concise presentation on Imam Jafar As-Saadiq (AS) and the spread of Knowledge.
He asserted that the root of the progress in contemporary knowledge (religious, biological, physical, mathematical, etc) could be traced directly or indirectly to Imam Saadiq. He cited a good example of Jabeer ibn Hayyan, the founder of the famous mathematical ALGEBRA, who was a disciple of the “genius” Imam. He drew the attention of the audience that nobody should wonder the enormous knowledge of the Imam. This is because of his background. He was the grandson of the “gate to the city of knowledge” of the Holy Prophet (SAWA).
The Speaker also highlighted on the sound and noble character of the grandson of the Prophet which includes his generosity, his patience, simplicity and devotion. His verse knowledge cannot be matched with that of any one, he noted.
In the usual remarks by the Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, his eminence Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky (H). he pointed to the fact that Imaam Saadiq strengthened Islam through the spread of authenticProphetic knowledge. Sayyid (H) noted that the father of Imam Saadiq, i.e. Imam Muhammad Baqeer (AS) safe guarded the Prophetic treasure of knowledge. His son Imaam Saadiq spread it. All the leaders of the “renowned” four mazahibs revered by the Ahlus Sunnah are directly or indirectly students of Imaam Saadiq (AS). The politics of the day, however, elevated the students and disregarded the teacher!
It was a Friday night, so Sayyid (H) closed the session by recitations of Du’a Kumayl from Mafaatihul Jinaan.
