CAIRO (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In a terse televised statement, the recently appointed Egyptian vice-president Omar Sulaiman announced the resignation of Husni Mubarak and assigning the running of the country to the supreme council of the armed forces.
As soon as the news broke out millions of Egyptian protesters on the streets of Cairo and other Egyptian cities turned the protests into celebrations of their success to overthrow Mubarak after 17 days of their popular revolution.
Meanwhile, spontaneous street celebrations took place in Jordan, Yemen, Tunisia, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip as Arab people were watching very closely what is taking place in Egypt and waiting for the success of the revolution.
