- I am addressing you all with worry.
- I tell you that the blood of your martyrs will not go to waste. I vow that I will firmly punish the perpetrators.
- I tell the families of the victims that [the violence] hurt me as much as it hurt them.
- I tell you that my response to your calls is an engagement
- I am adamant about what I vowed and am keen on not going back.
- The most important thing is to acknowledge the state and be accountable.
- I tell you that as president, I respond to the youth. However, I will never in any way accept any instructions from foreign powers.
- I have announced that I will not run again for the presidency.
- I have also announced [that I will] act responsibly to protect the constitution to ensure that the candidate chosen by the people [for the presidency] will win.
- I will preserve the vow I made.
- I have proposed a vision to get out of the [current] impasse.
- I proposed engaging in a responsible dialogue.
- I will continue to pursue this vision minute-by-minute in order to transform it into reality.
- We have established a constructive national dialogue. This dialogue has resulted in a consensus that puts us on the right track to get out of the crisis.
- We pass day-by-day to the peaceful transfer of power in September.
- [The dialogue] resulted in the formation of two committees, which I have been keen for to include Egyptian figures.
- I have instructed to speed up the process of investigations into last week’s clashes and take necessary legal measures.
- I have [worked on] making legal amendments.
- I called for amending 6 articles in the constitution.
- These amendments facilitate the conditions to run for presidency, monitoring elections, and granting [special jurisdiction] to the judiciary only.
- Brother citizens, the priority now is to restore confidence between the Egyptian people.
- Egypt is passing through difficult times that cannot be taken lightly.
- This will affect primarily the people who are calling for change and reform.
- This is related to the fate of the Egyptian people. We must keep national dialogue going, away from disputes and conflict to bring confidence back to our economy and normal life to the people.
- I have never submitted to foreign pressure.
- I worked for the sake of Egypt, its security and its people.
- I trust that the majority of the people know who Hosni Mubarak is.
- In any way, out of conviction that Egypt is at a crossroad that requires us to put Egypt’s national interests [above all others], I saw it fit to delegate Egyptian VP Omar Suleiman to assume the powers of the presidency.
- Egypt will stand on its feet again.
- We will prove our ability to fulfill the demands of the people.
- We will prove that we are not followers of anyone.
- We will prove that through our unity [we will rise again]… This spirit will live in us.
- I tell you again, I have lived for this country and Egypt will remain, above people and above everyone.
- Egypt will remain a generous people, with its head held high.
- God bless Egypt and guide its people to the [right] path.
