(AhlulBayt News Agency) - “There is no termination to this revolution and the people will not tolerate this regime,” Nour addressed told Press TV on Wednesday, pointing to remarks made by Egypt's Vice President Omar Suleiman.
Suleiman had warned earlier in the day that the government would not tolerate the protests for long.
“In fact, the time is against the regime; the regime is swimming against the current because it is isolated,” Nour noted.
The opposition leader referred to the widespread pro-democracy demonstrations in Cairo, Alexandria, Mansoura and Kharga over the past two days, and said the continued protests mean the “revolution is expanding and the regime is losing.”
The sixteenth day of protests turned violent on Wednesday with security forces opening live fire on people, which led to the death of at least five protesters in Kharga and left hundreds wounded.
Mubarak has vowed to relinquish power in September, but protesters have remained in Liberation Square in Cairo demanding his immediate ouster.
Reports from Cairo indicate a massive deployment of tanks and mechanized infantry vehicles in and around the square that has been the core of pro-democracy protests in Egypt.
Vigilantes loyal to Mubarak were targeting protesters, especially in remote areas where human rights organizations are not active, reports said.
Meanwhile, opposition parties plan a massive march towards the Presidential Palace on Friday.
