Morocco’s Int’l Quran Contest Kicks off

The sixth edition of Morocco’s International Holy Quran Competition began yesterday, February 5, in the city of Casablanca.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - According to “Maroc Journal” website, representatives of33 Arabic and Islamic countries are competing in two categories of memorization of the entire Quran along with Tartil and interpretation, and memorization of five Hizbs (parts) along with Tarteel recitation.

In a statement issued on the opening of the competition, Morocco’s Awqaf Minister Ahmen Tufiq said elevating Quranic activities was the main objective of the event.

The contest’s jury panel is made up of 10 members, six from Morocco and 4 others from Libya, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan.

Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Qatar, Nigeria, Guinea, Senegal, Bahrain, Kuwait and Lebanon are some of the countries represented at the competition
