Najib To Launch Mosque Visit Programme In Kampung Baru

About 3,000 people are expected to enliven the Kampung Baru Jamek Mosque here at the launch of the "Mosque Visit" programme by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Saturday.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Kampung Baru Jamek Mosque Committee chairman Datuk Idris Shaari Mat Deris said the prime minister was expected to make an important announcement during the visit.

Speaking to reporters at the mosque here Friday, he said Najib would launch the programme after joining an Asar congregation prayer at the mosque.

Various events have been arrayed at the ceremony, including Quran reading, a religious talk by the winner of the young iman reality show, Muhammad Asyraf Mohd Ridzuan, and distribution of about 6,000 packets of "lambuk" porridge to the people, he said.

In conjunction with the visit, Najib is expected to officiate the ground-breaking ceremony of a 40-storey complex comprising a 250-room hotel, a 130-unit service apartment and 16 shophouses in Kampung Baru.

Located opposite Zikay building in Jalan Raja Alang, the RM190 million project will be developed by Zikay Group starting the second quarter of this year, said Zikay Group managing director Datuk Mohd Khay Ibrahim.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall director-general Datuk Salleh Yusup was present.
