US Senate calls for transition govt in Egypt

The US Senate, on Thursday afternoon, ratified a symbolic resolution that encouraged the Egyptian president, Hosni Mobarak, to establish the transition government, without asking Mobarak to step down from power.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The American senator, John Kerry, who is one those, who prepared the text of this resolution, told the reporters, prior to voting, that this resolution is non-binding, and is deliberately vague about the role that Mobarak can play in the future Cabinet.

He also pointed out that Mobarak may, or may not be present in the next Cabinet.
