The Tragedy of Imam Reza (A.S.)
O the lonely Imam! Separated from his ancestors and father
You are at rest in the land of Khurasan and the loneliest stranger.
How can I praise you? Alas! For the 72 sects
When God has praised you, where is the need of praise from others?
These courtyards and arched verandas and prayer halls are heaven!
Your shrine is a garden of paradise! You are rightly named Reza
You ate the poisoned grapes and submitted yourself to the Divine Will
You are buried near Harun and agree with the inevitable destiny
Alas! When you cried with agony in dire condition
You moaned aloud: where are you Taqi my life!
O the King of Yasrib and Bathha! You are all alone in Khurasan
O the Master of the forlorn! You are the helper of the weak and the meek
The rich go to Makkah, the poor come towards you
I'll die for you the spiritual king, the pilgrimage for the poor
