PETALING JAYA, Malaysia (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The al-Ikhlasiah mosque authorities consider the azan and loudspeaker issue closed.
Assistant iman Ramli Kadni said after a three-week period of silence, the locals were relieved to hear ceramah and prayers from outside the mosque in Kerinchi.
“Everything is back to normal since Friday night after the people insisted during a dialogue with Brickfields OCPD that loudspeakers be switched on,” he said.
The mosque was thrust into the limelight following protests by the locals over a complaint lodged by a lawyer on the use of loudspeaker during morning prayers.
“We had the loudspeaker switched off about three weeks ago after receiving a letter from Jawi informing us about the complaint.
“The matter drew the ire of the locals when they found out that we have switched off the loudspeaker because of the complaint,” he said.
