Israeli Violence in Gaza Denounced by Pakistani Law Maker

Pakistani law maker on Tuesday strongly condemned Israeli warplanes strikes on the Gaza Strip terming the act as deplorable

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Pakistani law maker on Tuesday strongly condemned Israeli warplanes strikes on the Gaza Strip terming the act as deplorable.

Israeli warplanes on Sunday launched twin air strikes on the Gaza Strip leaving two Palestinians injured.

Tariq Azeem Khan, Senator of Pakistan Muslim League-Q, termed the Israeli aggression on Gaza as a criminal act against the civilians. “It is a war declared by Israel on Palestinians and there is no justification of this criminal act”, he added.

Slamming the role of the United Nations the Senator said that global body has become silent spectator to the Israeli brutalities in Gaza.

“United Nations has become hostage to the whims of the Security Council's permanent members”, he said.

The politician expressing his views said that Israel is not ready to stop aggression on innocent Palestinians despite Hamas government has announced ceasefire against Israel.

“It is unfortunate that nobody is there to check Israel”, he added.

Tariq Azeem Khan was of view that Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) should come up with a strong voice to put pressure on Israel.

He urged the OIC to take a proactive stand to protect the rights of the Palestinians and get effective support of International community against Israeli brutality.

The Senator called for reformation of the United Nations to make the global body effective.

The political leader suggested that permanent membership to the UN must be canceled immediately and every country should be given equal participation in the affairs of the international body.

“There is a need to take some practical measures to protect rights of innocent Palestinians”, Tariq Azeem Khan added.

“Short term strategy should be formed to resolve issue of Palestine instead of long term strategy”, said the law maker. “Palestinians have been deprived of their legitimate rights”, he said.

Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza in June 2007, even preventing basic necessities from entering the territory. Tel Aviv went further to launch an all-out onslaught on the coastal sliver in December 2008-January 2009, killing more than 1,400 Palestinians.

The Israeli military launches attacks on the Palestinian territories on a regular basis. There has been a surge of violence along the Gaza border during this month.
