Brunei Representatives for Quran Reading Competition in Thailand

Two Quran readers will represent Brunei in the Quran Reading Competition in Nong Chok, Thailand.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Two Quran readers will represent Brunei in the Quran Reading Competition in Nong Chok, Thailand.

The representatives were sent off at the Brunei International Airport.

The male category will be represented by Awang Haji Ismail bin Haji Sulaiman, 44, a businessman who is actively involved in Quran reading.

Meanwhile Dayang Hajah Maidah binti Haji Abd Rahman will represent the country in the female category.

Dayang Rajah Maidah is a UBD student who currently is in her final year taking Bachelor of Art's in Islamic of Education Studies.

Both readers regularly represent Brunei in the international Quran reading competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and often win the National Quran Reading Competitions organised by' the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The Quran reading competition in Nong Chok Thailand is held in conjunction with the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and this is the first time that Brunei is sending its representatives to join in the competition.

The participants were also accompanied by two officers from the Islamic Eminence Development Section, Ministry of Religious Affairs -Awang Abd Rahim bin Haji Durahman and Dk Hajah Ummi Kalthum binti Pengiran Haji Abd Razak. The competition is going to be held until January 2.
