(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Concurrent with Eid Al-Ghadir, top participants of the second edition of Quran reading course held for the youth in Zambia were awarded.
Ali Bakhtiari, who is in charge of Iran Cultural Center in Zambia told IQNA that the two-month-long course was held in 20 sessions at Imam Reza (AS) mosque and concluded on November 18.
“The 20 participants between 8 to 15 years of age were taught how to read the Quran and succeeded to memorize 10 Surahs of the 30th part (Juz’) of the Quran,” he said.
“Like many other African countries, Zambia has been under the influence of the western culture, but the people could not find solutions in Christian teachings for moral crises or social corruption, that is why they have referred to the holy Quran,” he added.
He said that conversion to Islam has been on the rise in the country and there are many people who refer to Iran cultural center asking for English translation of the Quran. “They want to know about the holy book and the message of the last Divine Word for mankind.”
Bakhtiari added, “regarding the need for Quranic activities, we have a greater responsibility to introduce the true Islam by teaching the Quran and this is an objective which should be a priority.”
