CAIRO (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The inter-Palestinian reconciliation bid topped the agenda of Palestinian de facto president Mahmoud Abbas's talks with Egyptian officials in Cairo, senior Egyptian officials told the PIC on Monday.
They added that Cairo asked Abbas to delay meetings between Fatah and Hamas until after the Egyptian parliamentary elections slated for end of November, noting that Abbas said that no future meetings with Hamas would be held until Fatah's revolutionary council convenes next Wednesday.
The sources said that Cairo would not obstruct any Fatah-Hamas agreement but was not ready to receive Palestinian delegations to sign the reconciliation at present.
They said that Egyptian political and security circles were preoccupied with the general elections scheduled on 27th November and thus could not host a signing ceremony on this occasion.
