(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On the opening day of this seminar, attended by international and local Malayan thinkers and university students, academic figures of the two countries stressed the need for discussing views to expand higher education among Muslim world.
Deputy of Malay Science minister, Seyful din Abdullah said," An Islamic view on academic discussions must not be limited to Muslim countries and the viewpoints should also be introduced to non-Muslim nations.” “ Today, the number of university students in Iran has mounted to about four million people in 2010, while the number was put at about 180,000 in 1978, [a year before the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution],” Mohammad Mahdi Zahedi, Iran’s ambassador to Malaysia said.
“Iran is expected to stand on the top of science and technology in 2025 in Western Asia,” the envoy said.
The International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia affiliated to the University of Malaya [UM] and in cooperation with Al Mustafa International University in Tehran, has held the meeting to determine the role of Islam and Islamic teachings and universities in development of higher education system of Muslim countries.
