Ethiopian Islamic council allocates 20 million Birr for HIV prevention campaign

The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council Development Agency has allocated a 20 million Birr budget to undertake a programme aimed at preventing HIV/AIDS at the national level.

HAWASSA, ETHIOPIA (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council Development Agency has allocated a 20 million Birr budget to undertake a programme aimed at preventing HIV/AIDS at the national level.

The agency's Management Information System Officer, Mubarek Se'id, said at the opening of a relevant training programme here Sunday that the programme would be implemented with the support of the Global Fund.

The objective of the programme is to support orphans in the country.

Mubarek said the five-year programme would assist some 7,000 needy children and establish income generating mechanisms during the current Ethiopian year
