Speaking at the event, the co-ordinator of the centre, Hajia Shifa Garba, said the anniversary was primarily aimed at creating awareness about many positive aspects of Sharee’ah doctrine.
“Many people, especially non-Muslims usually portray the practice of Sharee’ah in a negative way without understanding that the system is meant for a just society, where fear of God prevails,’’ she said.
She said Islam is a religion of peace that does not encourage terrorism in any form, regretting that some people do link terrorism activities to Islam.
Hajia Garba urged Muslims to always live harmoniously with their neighbours irrespective of their religious and ethnic backgrounds.
She informed that the centre has been working with many stakeholders including non-Muslims on the need to ensure unity in the country and called on the media to assist in this regard.
