(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In a meeting with Mohammad Hossein Ahmadi, Iran cultural attaché in South Africa, Yusof Dadu, head of the Religious and Arabic Studies Department in South Africa University, welcomed Iran’s suggestion of holding a Quranic week in the country.
According to Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Mr. Ahmadi referred to Al-Mustafa International University in Iran with a number of branches across the world suggesting that another branch of the university be established in South Africa.
The idea was welcomed by Yusof Dadu who promised to cooperate in launching the university.
Referring to the Quran desecration and the spite of international Zionism toward humanity and Islamic sacred beliefs, Yusof Dadu said that attempts must be made to introduce the holy Quran to the non-Muslim community.
He further referred to the influence of Muslims, however small in number (about 2 million) in South Africa asking for more serious efforts to be done to familiarize non-Muslims with the holy Quran.
Criticizing the present system of Islamic education in Muslims’ religious schools known as Dar-ol-Olum, Yusof Dadu noted that the system is not efficient enough to encourage the modern youth who are struggling with a huge amount of information at their time.
He later urged quick actions be taken based on daily needs to provide the youth with Islamic educational courses and introduce Islam to non-Muslims.
