The three-day conference will be featuring discussions on various issues relating to higher education and scientific research in the Muslim world.
The Higher Education Ministry said in a statement here today that the Fifth ICMHESR, also jointly-hosted by the Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), is set to be the platform to highlight the participating countries' system of higher learning in various aspects as well as promote opportunities.
It said that the conference was an excellent platform for all parties to identify emerging trends and technologies that are of excellent quality that could be incorporated into their organisations' requirement.
"All parties will have the opportunity to explore contributions, expertise and experience in the field of education that can be shared and extended to others OIC member countries," it said.
The event will be opened by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the Education Minister, on Oct 19 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
Among the highlights of the conference would be the introduction of a roundtable discussion entitled Empowering Women for Scientific and Technological
Development in Islamic Countries.
There will also a discussion about the progress on the project of Atlas of Islamic World Innovation, the creation of the Islamic Network of Women Scientists, and the Strategy for Promotion of Nanotechnology in the Islamic world.
