Ahlul Bayt News Agency ; JAKARTA: Coordinating Public Welfare Minister Agung Laksono called on Indonesian Muslims on Sunday not to be provoked by a Danish newspaper’s plan to publish a compilation of its cartoons, which include that of the Prophet Muhammad, which angered Muslims all over the world.
“Indonesian Muslims should not resort to anarchy in response to news about the planned publication of the book,” he said in a press statement in response to plans by Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten newspaper to include a cartoon depicting the Prophet wearing a bomb turban.
Agung said the plan was propaganda aimed at dividing and provoking Muslims throughout the world.
“The publication of the book would spark international protests. In Indonesia, protests should not be in breach of the law.”
Last week, Jyllands-Posten announced that the book, The Tyranny of Silence, would be published on Sept. 30 and would be edited by Flemming Rose, the newspaper’s cultural editor.
