Ahlul Bayt News Agency ; KUALA TERENGGANU, Malaysia -- The Terengganu Islamic Affairs and Malay Customs Council (Maidam) is to set up a special centre for Muslim converts in the state.
Maidam president Datuk Mazlan Hashim said the Darul Hidayah complex in Jalan Sultan Omar would be upgraded for the purpose with an allocation of RM14 million.
The centre, expected to be built during the 10th Malaysia Plan (2011-2015) period, would have various amenities, including hostels for men and women as well as lecture and training halls, he told Bernama.
Mazlan said that between January and July this year, 73 people converted to Islam.
Terengganu had 1,875 Muslim converts, he added.
