Moroccan Participant Wins Children Quran Contest in Qatar

Moroccan reciter Mohammad Al-Dewik bagged the first prize at the international contest on Tajweed held for children in Qatar.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency, The final stage of the competition was held on September 5 by Aljazeera Satellite Network in cooperation with Endowments Ministry in Qatar and four children from three countries competed in the Tajweed category.

Mohammad Al-Dewik from Morocco, Abdul Hamid Sufi from Qatar and Adnan Nuruddin Al-Khizri and Jawahir Fayiz Shamu from Syria won the first to the fourth ranks respectively and were awarded 100, 75, 50 and 30 thousand Qatari Rials.

The first stage of the contest was held with the participation of children between 8 to 13 years of age from Egypt, Qatar, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia and Comoros Islands. It was supervised by internationally known Quran masters.

A number of Quran memorizers from Tunisia, Egypt, China and Comoros Islands were also present at the studio and read verses of the Quran on the sidelines of the contest. The organizers of the contest plan to hold it with more participants in following years.
