Ahlul Bayt News Agency, JAKARTA, Indonesia -- In order to widespread Islam in the Ramadhan month, Central Jakarta Administration held Ramadan Festival again in Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta taking place from 20 to 29 August 2010. This annual event is ensured to be more lively, because various of Islamic arts are displayed: nasyid competition, calligraphy, and student bands presenting religious songs.
"Ramadan Festival is held as the symbol of Ramadan as well as a venue to make closer and introduce Islamic arts to the community," said Ghozali, Head of Administration for Central Jakarta Culture Sub-dept, Friday (8/20) afternoon.
Ghozali added, in this festival his side combined the artistic, social, and missionary dimensions. One of these activities is Ramadan lecture (cakram) and Ramadan afternoon discussion (Obras). Uniquely, this event is also accompanied with ID card extension and birth certificate service.
In this event, Ghozali continued, Central Jakarta Social Sub-dept. and BAZIS presented alms to 150 street children and poor people. "This time the festival involves eight sub-districts as bazaar participants," explained Ghozali, targeting up to 30,000 festival visitors.
Daily Executive of Central Jakarta Mayor Fatahillah, who attended representing Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo, welcomed this event. He also expressed appreciation for the success of the event and hope it brings benefits to the wider community.
