African Top Shia Cleric Speaks on Virtues of Ramadan

Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria has stressed the significance of the Holy month of Ramadan, and called on Muslims to intensify acts of worship to attain God’s forgiveness and blessings. Sayyed Zakzaky made the remark during the Nahjul Balagah Lesson at F.I.C on Monday the 9th of August 2010.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria has stressed the significance of the Holy month of Ramadan, and called on Muslims to intensify acts of worship to attain God’s forgiveness and blessings.  Sayyed Zakzaky made the remark  during the  Nahjul Balagah Lesson at F.I.C  on Monday the 9th of August 2010.

He quoted  a Hadith of the Holy Prophet from the book of  Sadooq with reference to the significance of Ramadan period,  as mentioned by theProphet (SAWA):

-Allah’s  servants receive  invitation, by His Grace, to receive divine blessings in the month of Ramadan.

-Rewards are given in manifold for a single act of worship.

-It is the Month in which breath of person observing fasting is equivalent to the reward of ten tasbih(God’s glorification); Sleeping  in the Holy month of Ramadan is also act of worship.

-Complete devotion in supplications and prayers with good intention are answered.

-Similarly Allah showers His servants with His blessings in the month of Ramadan and answer  their prayers.

-The gates of Paradise are open while the gates of hell are locked during the month of Ramadan.

Sayyed Zakzaky urged Muslims to also engage in devotional acts of worship to benefit from blessings of Ramadan. These include:

-Recitation of the Holy Quran.

-Giving out charity to the needy and poor for the sake of God.

-Respect to elders and showing mercy to the weak.

-Avoidance of sins and abominations; sins are abominations at all times, however sins in the month of Ramadan receives double punishment.

-Supplications and seeking for God’s forgiveness  during the Daily Prayers.

-Catering for the welfare of orphans and those in need

- Strict adherence to obligatory and suppregatory prayers more than ever; long prostration lowers the burden of Sin.

-Feeding a fellow Muslim fasting has the equivalent reward of setting free a slave, in addition to complete forgiveness of sin.

-Sound character moulding/formation  in this month eases crossing of the Sirat.

-Visits to relatives.

-Much of sending salawat upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad(SAWA)

Sheikh Zakzaky read Hadith of the Holy Prophet that says, the greatest loser is he who denies himself the abundant mercies of Allah that leads to forgiveness of sins in the month of Ramadan.
