Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), GEORGE TOWN, Bernama -- A Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) student, Mohd Nur Hadi Hamsar, has been selected as the sole representative of Malaysian students to join the convoy themed "Ramadan in Gaza: March For Freedom" from Aug 6 to 18.
Tawau-born Mohd Nur Hadi, 24, a postgraduate pharmacology student, said he was indeed happy to join the humanitarian convoy organised by the Malaysian Islamic Organisations Consultation Council and the Secretariat for the Assembly of Ulama of Asia.
He said the mission was aimed at laying the foundation stone for the construction of a hospital, besides sending food and medical aid to the Palestinians in Gaza.
"As a student, this is a great opportunity for me to get a first-hand experience in understanding conflict and lending a helping hand to the needy," he told a news conference here Saturday.
USM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, who was also present, said the university had always encouraged its student to participate in community work.
